Ways to Donate to Sparrow

All donations go to NEST, Sparrow’s Parent/Teacher Organization, and are used to pay for Sparrow’s Specialty Subject Teachers, Teacher Aides (not already covered by NUA), classroom supplies, gardening supplies, and field trips. NEST is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (tax ID #45-4289257) and, as such, donations are tax deductible. Receipts are available upon request from the office or by emailing the NEST Treasurer.

Direct Donations & Family Pledges

Like all public schools, NUA cannot provide all of the funding that Sparrow needs to include a full and rich curriculum that our children deserve. NEST seeks to provide these funds through large and small scale fundraisers throughout the year, as well as through annual pledges. Thank you for contributing!

All cash and checks (made out to NEST), can be brought in or mailed to the school office at the address below. You can also set up an automatic monthly bill pay through your bank, directing payment to:

N.E.S.T.
4207 Spring Gardens Rd.
La Mesa, CA 91941

If you prefer to contribute through credit or debit, you may do so in the office, or by using PayPal’s “Donate” button below. You can also make this a recurring monthly payment. Please be sure to “add a message” on the second screen to let us know what, specifically, your donation is for (family pledge, donation for specific student, need or event, etc).

scripshopwithscrip

Scrip is the simplest fundraising program for our school! There is no selling and there is no additional money you need to spend. You just buy a gift card to one of your favorite stores and a portion of your purchase goes to the school!

Your weekly shopping, might add up as a great donation to the school. If you purchase $200 at Sprouts every week, and buy $50 Starbucks card – that will raise $15 for our school. If you then need to buy your kids some school clothes at Old Navy and spend $50, it will raise an additional $7. You need things from Home Depot… you see the point. The easiest way to think about Scrip is by figuring out where you spend most often and use it there – like your groceries or for your big purchases.

  • Gift cards are ready for purchase in the office!
    • Cards on hand often include Sprouts, REI, Whole Foods, Michael’s, Ross, Bed Bath and Beyond, Amazon, GAP/Banana, Red Lobster/Olive Garden, Macy’s, TJ Max, Home Depot, iTunes, Crate and Barrel, and more!
    • Additional cards to stores not listed can be ordered. See the long list of merchants and inquire with the office.
  • If you prefer to order eCards online, please watch this video to see how easy it is through ScripNow, and then follow these simple directions to get set up on Presto Pay (similar to PayPal). It’s easy and you can reload your cards from home! Once you are set up, you can easily get instant access to gift cards before making a purchase online.

Similar to Scrip (above), eScrip allows you to raise money for NEST through purchases you already make! You simply register your credit/debit/reward cards and dine, shop or travel with any of their merchants.

Through eScrip, you can earn money for NEST by doing one or (preferably) ALL of the following:

  • Register your credit cards** to automatically earn money for NEST when you use them at the following:
  • If you prefer not to register your card, you may find coupons and earn money by shopping through their online mall.

**When searching for your charitable organization during the registration process, please designate “Nurturing Exceptional Students & Teachers”.

Already shopping at Amazon.com? Now use it to make money for Sparrow at no extra cost!

AmazonSmile is the same Amazon you know: same products, same prices, same service. Amazon will donate 0.5% of the price of your eligible AmazonSmile purchases to NEST whenever you shop on AmazonSmile. Be sure to designate “Nurturing Exceptional Students & Teachers” when signing up and then be sure to always return to – or bookmark this link when going to their site.

By the way – if your business uses an Amazon Business Account, they can also use AmazonSmile to help Sparrow simply by switching to the above link when accessing the website! Ask your office manager if they’d consider it.

TIP: you can increase your donation by using AmazonSmile to place your order, and then pay for it using a Scrip gift card number! Easy Peasy!

MightyNest - Healthy Safe Gear for your Family

MightyNest (no relation!) allows you to shop for naturally-minded, reusable, healthy, everyday items for your home and family, and gives 15% of your purchase back to NEST.

Mabel’s Labels offers peel and stick name labels so you can label your child’s clothes, lunch gear, baskets, back packs, shoes, and anything else you can think of. They last years and are adorable, too!

Save your box tops and bring them in to the office for redemption. Each one is worth 10 cents, and that can add up!

Printer Cartridges

Bring in the printer cartridges you no longer need (used or new). Sparrow will recycle them for you, saving you time, helping the environment, and raising money for NEST!
